The Prophetic Narrative

Prophecy is more a call to repentance than a preview of the future. And since what will happen in the future has repeatedly happened in the past, the warning comes as a review of past catastrophes. That review, it is hoped, will inspire repentance, which is the only sure remedy.

Spiritual Prophecy and Temporal Prophecy

How much of what a prophet says comes directly from God, and how much of it comes from a knowledge of the past?

This question can be asked weather we are trying to understand the spiritual side of the gospel, or the temporal side.

When trying to understand the temporal side of the gospel, how much of the imagery and symbolism is derived from a knowledge of past cataclysms and cosmic imagery, and how much is derived from visions given by God? How much of it is both?

Cosmism attempts to answer these questions, but simply asking these questions as you study this theory is just as important.
