The Spirit of Prophecy

Keys to obtaining the spirit of Prophecy:

  1.  Cosmology, and cosmological imagery is a major key to prophecy. This imagery is a plain and simple language and a code that many ancient people understood, but that most today are completely ignorant of.
  2.  There is no need to be a prophet to read and understand prophecy. Anyone can.
  3.  Today's scientific and philosophical methods in many ways block our understanding of this prophetic imagery. By understanding how the ancients practiced science and philosophy, one can easily understand prophecy.
  4.  Reading, studying, and researching is the key to finding any type of knowledge. The more effort you put into researching these keys, the more prophecy you receive; and therefore the deeper, and more practically useful your understanding of the gospel will be.
  5.  The litmus test to understanding the gospel: To the extent to which we do or do not understand the imagery of prophecy, we also fail to understand the rest of scriptural imagery.
  6.  The prophecies of the last days will not be brought about by anything that Man or the Devil inflict upon the world. Things like war, bad politics, bad economics, or anything like these will be nothing compared to a planetary encounter which is the real deliverer of the apocalypse.

A prophecy consists of divinely inspired words or writings, which a person receives through revelation from the Holy Ghost. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10). A prophecy may pertain to the past, present, or future. When a person prophesies, he speaks or writes that which God wants him to know, for his own good or the good of others. Individuals may receive prophecy or revelation for their own lives.
